Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, remember preferences, maintain secure sessions, and understand how visitors use a service. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixels; in this Policy we refer to them collectively as “cookies” unless we specify otherwise.

Cookies may be set by Mia Fencing LLC (first-party cookies) or by providers acting on our behalf in connection with hosting, authentication, and payments (third-party or service cookies), such as Supabase for Auth sessions. We currently do not use advertising networks or third-party ad trackers on the Services.

We distinguish between:

• Essential (strictly necessary) cookies: required to provide the Service you request, including security, authentication, load balancing, and remembering critical preferences such as language where implemented as essential for a coherent user experience. These cookies do not require consent under the ePrivacy rules in many jurisdictions, though we still disclose them here.
• Optional cookies: used for non-essential analytics, marketing, or enhanced personalization. We do not currently deploy advertising cookies. If we introduce optional analytics or marketing cookies in the future, we will update this Policy and, where required, obtain your consent before setting them.

The following cookies are particularly relevant to Mia Fencing:

• mia_locale: stores your preferred language/locale (for example, en, fr, or es) so the site can present content in that language across visits. This is a preference cookie used to deliver a localized experience.
• Supabase Auth cookies / session tokens: set when you sign in to the member portal or manager portal. They authenticate your session, help keep you logged in securely, and protect account access. These cookies are essential for authenticated areas of the Services. Exact cookie names may vary by Supabase configuration (for example, project-specific sb-*-auth-token style cookies) and may include related CSRF or refresh-token mechanisms.
• Hosting / platform cookies: our hosting provider (Vercel) or the browser may use transient technical cookies or headers necessary for routing, security, and performance. These are limited to operating the site.
• Payment-related cookies: if you complete a payment through Stripe-hosted pages, Stripe may set its own cookies subject to Stripe’s policies. Those cookies are controlled by Stripe when you are on Stripe’s domain.

We do not currently use cookies for third-party advertising, retargeting, or social advertising pixels on miafencing.com.

• Locale preference (mia_locale): remember language choice; typically persistent for a defined period (for example, several months to one year) or until cleared.
• Authentication (Supabase): maintain secure logged-in sessions for member and manager portals; duration depends on session and refresh-token settings (session may expire after inactivity or when you sign out).
• Security and integrity: detect abuse, protect forms and accounts; short-lived or session-based where feasible.

Where required by law (notably in the EEA/UK), we will not set non-essential cookies until you give consent through our consent mechanism, if and when such cookies are introduced. Essential cookies needed for the Service may be set without consent. You may withdraw consent for optional cookies at any time by adjusting preferences (when available) or clearing cookies in your browser. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal.

If you refuse or clear authentication cookies, you will not be able to remain signed in to the member or manager portals. If you clear mia_locale, the site may fall back to a default language until you choose again.

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies via settings. You can typically block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete existing cookies. Refer to your browser’s help documentation for instructions (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, etc.). Please note that blocking essential cookies may degrade or break core functionality, including login and language persistence.

You may also use industry opt-out tools for advertising cookies if we introduce them in the future; we will update this Policy accordingly.

We may revise this Cookie Policy when our cookie practices change (for example, if we add analytics). The effective and last-updated dates above will be revised accordingly. Please review this page periodically.
